What Narcos is (and is not)

Narcos is a community package distributed through the Crisis Response downloads section on ModDB/IndieDB. It is not the commercial full game, and it is not a tiny texture pack. Official demos still come from isbeorn’s sandbox/marksman line. Use Sandbox Versions to name your vanilla baseline before you chase overhauls.

Who should wait

If SmartScreen, missing runtimes, or marksman basics still block you, stay on vanilla. Narcos will not teach entry discipline for you — Entry Planning and Hostage Rescue still matter.

Install workflow

1. Boot a clean official sandbox once.
2. Copy the entire game folder.
3. Install Narcos only into the copy, following the ModDB file notes for v1.3.
4. Record base demo name + Narcos version in a text file.
5. Run one short encounter before committing to a long session.
